Session times and charges
Sessions start and finish times. We ask children to be collected promptly at the end of each session.
Our Nursery School has looked closely at the needs of our children and knows that settled, happy children are learning children. We organise groupings to ensure consistency of adults and children over the year-keeping a small ‘family’ together.
Our room session times are:
If your child is 2 (turning 3 within the academic year September - August)
Pre-Nursery Class (Garden and Explorers)
2-year-funded sessions are offered every morning or afternoon, Monday – Friday.
Exact session times will be dependent on your child’s key group.
We would recommend 2 or more sessions per week to help nursery be a memorable part of the weekly routine.
A child that is two may be entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare each week (term time).
Eligibility for the two-year funding is based on any support or benefits you may be entitled to. Full eligibility for the 2-year funding can be found on the website below.

Funding will start the term after the child’s second birthday. Term start dates are the 1st January, 1st April and 1st September.
Once you have been approved for the funding, then the funding remains in place until the 3-4 funding begins even if your family circumstances change.
At St Giles Nursery School, this 15 hour funding is offered as 5 x 3-hour sessions each day of the week.
If your child is 3 (turning 4 within the academic year September - August)
Nursery Class (Castle)
All three and four-year-olds in England are entitled to 570 hours of funded early education per school year. The funding starts the term after the child turns three.
3-4 year old funded sessions are offered every morning or afternoon, Monday – Friday.
Exact session times will be dependent on your child’s key group.
To find out if you are eligible for the 30-hour funding, you can find details and apply via the link below: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/
You and any partner must expect to earn (on average) at least £131 per week. (Equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage).
If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, or you’re unable to work because you are disabled or have caring responsibilities, you could still be eligible.
Supplementary Charge
The funding provided by the government, unfortunately, does not cover all the fantastic opportunities we aim to offer your child, simply adult supervision.
At St Giles Nursery School we offer a variety of snacks throughout the day as well as various cooking opportunities. The children are offered a range of activities throughout the week, such as Forest School and Dance lessons. We ask our parents to support us by paying towards these snacks and activities to enable us to provide the high quality of service we pride ourselves on.
If you are unable to contribute, please let us know, and we would be happy to support a repayment plan or discuss your individual circumstances.
