healthy teeth
The most significant oral disease for children and young people is tooth decay.
Tooth decay is a preventable disease and the risk factors are poor oral hygiene and poor diet.
For children, tooth decay has both physical and psychological effects. When severe, tooth decay will cause children to experience pain, disfigurement, infections, difficulty eating, sleep deprivation and days off nursery or school.
It can also affect nutritional intake and weight gain in very young children.
It can negatively affect development, particularly speech and learning before they go to school.

A Toothy talking point.....
At Nursery, we promote good dental routines and encourage children to learn to brush their teeth carefully.
We use the Bus Brush song:

This helps children to understand how long to brush for and get into a fun routine.
